Dan Evertsz is the owner of College Planning Specialist located in Oakland, CA. Together, for the past 17 years, we have helped of hundredes of working class families obtain financial aid from countless universities across the country. College Planning Specialist educates and navigates working families through the College Financial Aid system. Per guidelines set forth by the Department of Education, there are many strategies that can be used to help families lower their "expected family contribution", which is part of the federal guidelines formula that will ultimately determine the amount of money the family of a student will be required to pay on a yearly basis. Bay Area College Planning Specialist is deicated to assisting all families obtain a piece of the over $100 billion dollars available for college. The students and families that receive the most financial aid are not always the families that may deserve it the most. Mr. Evertsz also wants to announce the long awaited partnership with the nationally recognized "Applywise" product line of on-line college admission tools now available to California and San Francisco Bay Area students. Co-Owner Gerna Benz of College Planning Specialists has equally helped hundreds of families maximize their eligibility for financial aid. Gerna has lectured all over the country from colleges, community centers, and churches spreading the word that no child shall be left behind due to financial or academic limitation. Gerna has acheived the designation of CCPS - Certified College Planning Specialist through The National Institute of Certified College Planners. Gerna is a certified college planning specialist that belongs to multiple college planning associations nationwide. Gerna has been in the finance industry for more than 20 years. Gerna is nationally recognized as an expert on college planning. Sarat Munjuluri graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from the Rutgers College Honors Program, part of Rutgers University, with a double major in Genetics and English. He spent a semester in Valencia, Spain, completed a thesis investigating the effects of somatic mutations in organisms experiencing high environmental stress, and was nominated by Rutgers for both the Rhodes and Marshall Scholarships.
An alumnus of Teach For America, Sarat taught a bilingual classroom in Houston, TX, and completed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Fellowship to revise science curriculum in conjunction with faculty at the Baylor College of Medicine. Most recently, he has worked as a college admissions counselor at a public high school in California, where he facilitated the school's first admits in at least fifteen years to various prestigious liberal arts colleges, including Amherst College, Bates College, and Claremont McKenna College. Notably, Sarat’s work also lead to a 50 percent increase in admits to the University of California at Los Angeles. Sarat is a member of both NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors) and WACAC (Western Association of College Admissions Counselors). Ms. Jessica Yang is an Executive Assistant and Office Manager for Bay Area College Planners, where she provides administrative and program support, including preparing and maintaining files, correspondence, materials and financial aid applications to relevant colleges, agencies, organizations and individuals. She maintains and oversees the day to day functions of the office in Jack London Square (Oakland) and works closely with the College Planners. She also provides administrative support for BACP events, including tracking, organizing, and coordinating activities such as monthly College Planning Workshops, Teleconference/Webinar preparation, Senior’s Application Bootcamp and volunteer projects for students across the Bay Area. Before joining BACP in 2007, Ms. Yang was an administrative assistant for the Careers Department of the California Culinary Academy, San Francisco, where she developed strong organizational and office support and administration skills, including developing and implementing standardized internal procedures, planning events, creating electronic forms and presentation templates, and maintaining close contact with students and employers for the Academy’s Student Internship Program. Ms. Yang has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Bristol, U.K., and an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts from California Culinary Academy, San Francisco (summa cum laude).
